Does Sterling have a “soft spot”? A weakness for baby animals or some other thing/activity that brings out his “affectionate side”?

1st, Scaeva, sorry about the handle typo. 2nd, the version that got me interested was called, “Poems from the Chinese” and was a book in a waiting room. That was decades ago and I have never seen that book again. 3rd, I buy every copy of the Penguin classic I see in used book shops because I give away copies so often. I have 2 in the shelf next to my desk, and I am happy to send you one if you’d like. 4th, totally agree with you about the Asian culture desert! The new Asian building at the Smithsonian was fantastic, but very difficult to follow up on. (It was also 71 degrees and pleasantly dim, while the mall was 101 and baking in the DC sun). I do try and keep up with archeology in China, which is mind blowing in it’s scale, recently approx 50,000 ancient bronze items found at a single dig. Cheers!!

Although there is a camp that argues that Lao Tsu is collective, the wisdom of the old masters, rather than a single definitive author. Some support for this in the difference in style of the collected verses. Translation is another hiccup with modern Chinese scholars debating the nuanced meanings of old characters read with a more modern eye. Personally, I recommend the Penguin classic edition, with translation by D. C. Lau which to me does a fantastic job of coping with the huge task of idiomatic translation issues. Not to put up my dukes with Scavea, just another creature’s opinion.

Grizz’s ‘world perception antenna’ is certainly receiving a different broadcast than everyone else… Who knows what is on his channel

Accurate evaluation is subtle. There have been several interesting projects to try and peer a little deeper. E.g. Employee 1, work is late, always frazzled, not as productive… turns out to be THE employee that everyone goes to for help. Spends so much time helping co-workers their own work is dragged down. Employee 2 Work is always early, very productive, etc. is actually ‘farming’ out the core of projects to other employees by asking for advice and examples, then using those ideas of others to finish tasks. Trying to keep it short here, so these are over simplified, but LOTS more goes on in the dynamics of a large workplace than any single metric can measure.

Kinda breaks the “rule” of ’don’t deny another’s reality’, I think I would have preferred the thermos to be a real goblin AND a functioning thermos… However it was worth it for “Talking Booger” and I very much enjoyed Kyle in this arc too.

No matter how good an artist one is, you just can’t paint the accompanying aroma…

Well… who didn’t see that coming? This strip doesn’t have plot twists it has plot discontinuities… (also is dark gray, vaguely aquatic, Rosemary wearing a bikini?)
