Aypo’s rare moment of nobility in the very last installment of this strip (which ran some years later) still doesn’t make up for that which she not so surprisingly realizes in the final panel here.
As one who has been around long enough to have known a few people who were born in the 19th century, it’s a bit disconcerting to realize that they’re all gone now. As such, cartoon character or not, I’m all for keeping Walt around for as long as possible.
Sigh. Another one of those. “Different in Canada”? Well gee, of course. After all, there’s obviously no difference whatsoever between life in Nunavut and life in British Columbia. Or life in the Yukon versus life in Nova Scotia. Just like here in the States, where there’s no difference between life in Jasper, Wyoming and Providence, Rhode Island. Or no difference in life between Montana and Florida. Not long ago, I had a great conversation with a gentleman from the Netherlands, who said that he and his fellow citizens had grown more than a little weary of people from The States telling them, “You’re really European”, as if there was no difference between Holland, Italy, Germany and Finland. Good grief…..
