   I never did understand why some women would put on so many layers of makeup that they ended up looking like painted ladies – and I don’t mean the colourful Victorian houses in San Francisco. My wife has always preferred the natural look and spends a little time applying makeup. I cannot tell the difference and have suggested she just skip the makeup. That did not go over well for some reason.

   We did not get the heavy rain that was predicted but did see a little lightning overnight. Hopefully they will lower the level of the water in the lake soon (they being the government department responsible for water levels in the lakes and rivers in this area. That is not a job I would want – keep the water level too low and the marinas complain. Too high and the property owners (like me) complain. Anyhow, enjoy this fine Sunday.

   Now Cathy has gone overboard on the storage – although I guess if you put stuff into pretty little boxes it will take up more room. Still, downsizing a little is way cheaper than renting a storage unit.

   Had a fun day at the dance recital today. Although I didn’t dance I am still exhausted. Because of the location and position of the lighting board for the main lights I have to stand to be able to operate them and my special effects. Still, really happy to have been there.

   Aaack! More heavy rain predicted for tonight. The high winds today are pushing the waves over my new wall so we are watching the new topsoil get washed away. There was no time to put sod down to protect it. At least we know the wall will not move now.

   6 months for clothing?? Not likely. It can be a lot longer than 6 months between weddings and funerals and I would hate to have to buy a new suit for each one.

   Late reading tonight. Spent the afternoon setting up lighting for tomorrow’s dance recital. My favourite thing to do on a Saturday. Should be fun.

   Harmless junk? I think spending that much on storage boxes (even if they are cute) is harmful.

   I use clear plastic dollar store storage containers. My lab has about 30 of them. Clear so I can see what is inside without opening them. Each container can have many different things in it so labels won’t work. Way better than the cardboard boxes I used to use. But over $500 for storage containers – no way.

   I do not understand wanting the insides of your closets to be beautiful. I think functional, reasonably neat, and organized just to the point where you can find what you want without having to take everything out is a better goal. But if you really care then go with the florals.

   Yesterday was another day spent in the theatre doing preliminary lighting setup for our next production and changing the lamp in the movie projector. Took a long time to change that lamp since it is the first time I have done it for that model of projector. If anyone is interested in helping us keep the theatre going – we are a finalist in the National Trust for Canada’s Next Great Save contest. If we win we get $50,000 towards fixing the roof and getting a start on repairing the water damage to the plaster. Voting is done by email with a limit of one vote per email address per day.    I think I am going to back away from this one slowly and carefully. Just a tad to controversial for me on a day I am filing my taxes.

   Looked out the window when I got up and it was snowing, then it was sunny, then it was raining, then it was ice pellets, then it was sunny again, then it was snowing. I gave up and I am not looking out the window any more today.

   I hope your day is a little less mixed up than mine.

    Cathy has a highly developed sense of order??? Never would have guessed that having seen her filing system for photos, I think she is just looking for an excuse not to change as that would take effort.
