It’s strange, but hospitals, who the politicians claim are under stress from so many covid patients, are having to furlough staff, not hire more. It seems that in some to most cases 80% of a hospital’s income comes from outpatient treatments/clinics and elective surgeries. My daughter works in a big city ER and they have cut staff and even ER staff are having their hours cut. The governors shut down the clinics and surgeries to prevent spread of disease, but it winds up costing hospitals too much and they have to lay off staff, reducing the number of medical professionals available to treat the disease which caused the furloughs.

Catch 22.
