Now I thought artists had to submit comics weeks in advance. I get that the political guys get a shorter time but it seems to me this is up AWFULLY fast….
This guy was NOT “suicidal”, which adds another element to the real terrorism of it. Violent societies, praise violence, and are shocked when it becomes “real”? Kip Kinkle, and others, who’ve NOT “offed” themselves, show a pattern of preparation, should someone have been paying attention?
Yes, we are mortified. I don’t understand why klebold, harris, kinkle, squeeky lynette fromme, lee harvey oswald etc, etc, etc pull a gun or guns on others and start shooting. Apparently keeping guns away from nut-jobs that use them that way is an abrogation of someone else’s rights. Time will tell what was on this guy’s mind, maybe.
^^Theo: Viet Nam, Grenada, Nicaragua, Panama, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq, Honduras, and “target” painted on Iran; all the “bad guys” with “harmful intent”, weren’t "foreign, or “Marxist”, “Fascist”, or “socialist”. Mass killing is wrongly called at times “war”; slaughter, is slaughter.
Actually,he carried two Glocks and a semi-automatic rifle. He had another rifle, probably as a back-up in his car. The man was a walking arsenal, not a “one gun” guy.
What your theatres could do is what some of them over here are doing: costumes okay, but no masks. (Some theatres are banning costumes altogether.) You can’t blame the theatres, really; they’re looking out for their customers and making sure that everyone has a good time.
It is a complex issue. Mexico with some of the tightest gun control is one of the most gun violent countries. Almost every Swiss household has a gun, yet do they not come close to the gun violence here in the states. There is definitely something more recently developed in our culture. In the past guns were even more accessible, yet there was nothing like the violence today. I think the hunger for recognition drives many of these shooters. Today’s culture is more narcissistic with the advent of Myspace, Facebook and Twiitter. To get more attention requires a radical act. I would also wonder how many of these people are taking medications that have caused their bizarre behavior. Of course the drug companies would say they were weird first and needed the meds; but so many have unknown side effects.
Cripes. This cartoon is yet more poor taste. Am I the only one who thinks these cartoons are just out of line?Just because you can draw it, doesn’t make it worth publishing.
New Zealand and other countries with “sound” firearms registration (of OWNERS in N.Z.) have far fewer homicides, period. Always interesting folks who say countries with stricter laws have “more problems” and “easy access”. That’s just more garbage from Wayne La Pierre and the crew.
I’m a gun owner(registered and licensed), and combat veteran, and former law enforcement officer. The “standard” for these type events is “personality types” not necessarily ever committed for mental disease, but yes, as J. Short noted, they ARE narcissists, and have no moral restraint. I see those “personalities” on blogs (and in certain “organizations”) all the time; authoritarian, narcissist, and usually “radical” on following dogma, religious or otherwise. They also, like “Rushbo”, cannot stand either criticism, or ANYONE ELSE’s beliefs or point of view. Even MINOR challenge to their pre-conceived notions is a trigger that “sets them off”. Irrational responses, either in verbiage, or violence, IS what they do.

BTW: Batman hates guns, and doesn’t use one, because his parents were killed with a gun.

The first half of your post was good, but you slipped off the rails.

You mean over-reacting is bad? How about Runnels who wants to over-react and ban guns entirely? Whew, glad no one over here is over-reacting.

Hope nobody misquotes you on your conspiracy theory. You’d be in a lot of trouble.
