Many pundits are saying the the Roberts " defection " was done in reaction to the over abundance of publicity given to Justice Kennedy prior to the vote, as he was considered the “swing” voter and the " moderate" voice of conservatism on the court. Roberts wanted it known whose “court” it really was. Everyone knows what wing-nuts Scalia and Thomas are, so Roberts can use them as straw men for his opinions without being tarred with the same brush. Alito goes along with the herd but Kennedy is the X- factor and the darling of the press. In short, ego overcame dogma.

Agreed, it’s not perfect. Single payer would be better (and cheaper for all of us). Agreed, corporations benefit. But so do actual people, which is more than can be said for any Wall Street bailouts. Check this site.

With unemployment over 8% and the economy in the crapper for every minute of “The Ones” 1st term because failed policies of the prior eight years, let’s be forced to spend 3 1/2 yrs fighting with idiots and biggots to get real health care to the Amercan people. Maybe Scalia and Alito will tell all when they appear at the next Republican fund raiser.

It’s a petty mind that gets so exercised about typos. Or as Sancho Panza would say to Don Quixote when he’d misuse some word or phrase—I’m paraphrasing here—“You understand the meaning of my words. Why are you complaining.”

Note to jimjammer: I stop reading when I see ignorant comments about “Obamacare” and “I’ll be paying for your healthcare” – silly things like that. As has been said, over and over:

1. The “tax” is expected to affect 1 percent of Americans.2. The idea of an individual mandate is an idea that started in the conservative Heritage Foundation…..Mitt Romney told us that last fall.3. Romney has even said as recently in a 2009 USA Today op-ed piecethat he supported a “tax penalty".Also, “Repeal of all the things, I said, that help children, help young adults, help seniors, help men or women who may have prostate cancer, breast cancer, whatever it is, any precondition. And everybody will have lower rates, better quality care and better access.” (Pelosi, another of your hated spawn of the devil)You remind me quite a bit of my brother – he also hates everything about Obama, socialism, the new Healthcare, etc., and rants about how we’re doomed. However, he will never give up his Medicare,which has saved him many thousands in cancer treatments and surgeries, along with his government mandated Part F and prescription drug coverage – these are OK, as they benefit him. Almost like socialized medicine, sort of?

Have you heard? Obama’s working on a death ray to kill baby Jesus when he floats down from the sky. And Scalia will be helpless to stop him! The republic is damned, damned I tell you!

Would you have preferred to bail out the hospitals when they went bankrupt from unpaid emergency room visits? Or just not have hospitals at all? Or kick aside sick people dying in the streets? Shoot them? Really, we’re curious.

Serious question: Do you know how many pages of rules and regs the insurance companies have? I don’t know and couldn’t find any numbers online, but if the number you quoted is correct, I’ll bet it’s comparable what the insurance companies have in their databases.

You miss my point. Quite independent of the government, the insurance companies have their own rules and regs about what procedures are acceptable under different circumstances and the reasons that they will reimburse the doctors and the patients at particular rates. In addition, each year, they negotiate with doctors, hospitals and other health care providers about how much they will reimburse them for their work/materials. I assure you that these documents are quite hefty too. It would be interesting to find out just what they amount to in comparison to the government’s documents.

As Taibbi has pointed out, it’s a fake election.
