There would be far fewer political problems in the wider (outside USA) world if this were to be true.

“using legitimate tax breaks makes me EVIL and GREEDY”

Oh, now I understand. You vote for republicans cause you hate tax breaks that make you evil and greedy. Maybe if Romney wins he will put in a flat tax or 999 plan thats removes all deductions, and decimates SS and medicare. Then you won’t have to be evil and greedy anymore.

“When the government can tell you (mandate) what to buy and what to do based on “health”

I don’t understand your logic. If it’s based on “health” it’s bad, but if it’s based on other factors it’s OK?

“If Obamacare is deemed Constitutional, it will be the flashpoint for revolution. When the government can tell you (mandate) what to buy and what to do based on “health”, it is essentially a dictatorship.”If mandated health insurance is so bad, why did the Republicans insist on its inclusion in the bill?

This is one of the Big Lies of the Head Dittohead. You do not have to buy health insurance. If you wish, you can pay the additional tax of $1.98 per year to be uninsured. Of course, when you get sick, that $1.98 will seem like an insignificant amount compared to the Doctor’s bill, which you WILL have to pay.

Yes, the real “practicality” of the BUSH tax breaks for buying massive vehicles like Hummers for “business needs” was really interesting, all those ACCOUNTANTS buying Hummers and huge SUV’s for “business”. Must use really heavy pencils to cook the books.

Are you aware that the tax credit for electric vehicles is not an open-ended budget expenditure, but has already been allocated in the ARRA, for a set amount and will expire.

“The credit begins to phase out for vehicles at the beginning of the second calendar quarter after the manufacturer produces 200,000 eligible plug-in electric vehicles (i.e., plug-in hybrids and EVs) as counted from January 1, 2010. IRS will announce when a manufacturer exceeds this production figure and will announce the subsequent phase out schedule.”

Federal Tax Credit Up To $7,500!

    “why buy them?”

My holy book doesn’t say it’s a sin to save money and protect the environment, so why shouldn’t I buy them? Where I live the electricity comes mostly from hydropower.Fortunately, those dams went in back in the days when republicans were in favor of progress and prosperity for the nation, and not just for the wealthy.

“so?”So the cost to the taxpayer is limited and is due to expire.Unlike the cost of tax credits and subsidies to the fossil fuel industry, which your party refuses to end.

Wow, what a load of hate, lies, idiotic blather and baseless slander.

The Canadian dollar was at 60 cents for most of the past century? Give me a break!Have you ever even been to Canada and exchanged your money?

Coal is being bankrupted by the president?Take a look at natural gas prices. That’s why use of coal is in decline. It’s a result of increased drilling and extraction of gas and oil that occurred during the Obama admininstration.

Food prices rising? You don’t suppose that has anything to do with climate change? Is Obama’s responsible for climate and weather and population increases?

Your whole post is like that… totally devoid of any basis in reality.

Technology promoted by “the left” and “environmentalists” is far more efficient, and less destructive, than continuing to use 100+ year old technology. It is the “RIGHT WINGERS” that being “conservative” want to hold onto “old tech”, because upgrading reduces profit-margins for their “friends” who are sticking it to ‘em, and they can’t see it.

The “grid” isn’t in any way efficient any more, and LOCAL energy production, wind, solar, yes natural gas and even nuke, would be far more efficient. BUT shipping tar sands or gas from Canada to Texas, MAKES NO SENSE. LIkewise, shipping natural gas across six states is likewise “poor efficiency”, but playing to the “markets” and profit.

Only when resources are gone, yes’ those ads with the idiot broad are totally false, and yes, those fossil resources are NOT ENDLESS, and in fact, are running out. “Deep her”, not “deeper” is a wiser way to go.

So if they taxed you and then bought it for you, that’s different?Don’t look now, but the government can already tell you to pay taxes, alimony, child support, auto insurance. They can also force you to clean up or shovel the sidewalk if you live in a city. Better get started on that revolution.

Regarding Payne’s comic – I like Obama, but I admit there are plenty of legitimate issues to criticize, so why does he have to make something up? He’s taken the mandate concept and extended it to where Obama never did.

“tell me one just one “tax credit” that those evil energy providers gets that any other industry does not get! "

That’s just my point! You complained about tax credits for Volts. Lots of industries get them. You seem to have a kind of blindness where you only complain about green energy tax credits and subsidies, even though they are ending. The fact that other industries get them is exactly what I’m trying to point out.

“Won’t matter if there is a flat tax’

Before you make up your mind about that, do the math. The per capita cost of the military alone, at current levels, is $2141.What do you think you will be paying as your share of the entire budget?

And what do you think will happen when the poor are asked to pay more than they actually earn, in taxes? Have a walled compound and security forces around your house?

You’re probably right. I just found it interesting that the mandate was a compromise to get the Republican party on board, but that seems to be the point they are most upset about. It’s the same policy that has killed bills in the past – add a rider or provision you know won’t be liked to get the bill voted down.

“What makes you think anyone will ever have to pay more than they earn?”

In your earlier post you wrote:

“EVERYONE will pay no matter if they make $1 or $1 billion.”

So, what is the guy who makes 1 dollar going to pay, the whole dollar? Or a graduated amount based on his income? That’s a progressive tax, not a flat tax.

I agree that even republicans wouldn’t put in a flat tax that required non-earners, children, the disabled etc. to pay money they don’t have. When you remove all those people from tax liability, your share of the military alone, is now about double what it was. And that’s just for the military, not for the whole federal budget. Maybe you are rich, and a flat tax would be cheaper than paying millions in tax, but you are not the only person in the country.Like I said, do the math. How much revenue would a flat tax generate, and what gov’t services (roads, defense, prisons, recreational lands, federal law enforcement, smoke jumpers, and on and on) would you be able to fund with that revenue?

And if you allow low-earners, like people who make minimum wage to pay only a portion of their full share, so they can keep some of their money, your share goes up dramatically again. So the rich pay much less under a flat tax, but the poor and middle class end up paying a large chunk of what they earn. Maybe that’s what you want, if you’re one of the 1%.

It’s all in the math. Magical thinking doesn’t trump cold hard math.
