Grandma: And those cool earphones! And that waffle iron. And those shoes! MALL Gabby: Have you considered some other way to get your exercise? Like downhill skiing? Grandma: Nah, that's too expensive.

Actually, my grandparents (who live in a very cold city) did their daily walk in the mall! Thankfully, they have will powers of steel and never bought anything.

The trick is to do your walking early enough that none of the stores are open. That’s the only time it makes for good exercise, anyway, if you wait until the shoppers arrive, you have to continually pause and stop to avoid hitting them.
