How long would those 20, 000 jobs last? Once it is built then what?

Lot’s of propaganda in this ’toon. Experts say the actual number of jobs created would be 6000, not 20,000. The problem was the Rethuglicans insistence there could be no Environmental Impact review.

This pipeline needed to be done right. Where did the repubs get off trying to railroad it through without a thorough environmental review? There is so much phony crap floating around about it as well as a lot of stuff that does not see much daylight. It is a Canadian company. it goes over the Ogallala Aquafer, affecting a water supply important to the agricultural economy of several states. It goes to a port on the Gulf so that the oil can be exported to Asia, so it does little or nothing to supply us with oil. Will the Canadian company hire ANY U.S. workers?

I hate it when “it will create jobs” is considered sufficient reason to do a project. How about – is it safe, is it needed, is there a better way to do it, etc. You know what creates jobs? Organize crime. FBI jobs, police jobs, undertaker jobs, etc. Let’s support organized crime – it creates jobs.

Yup, 400 million jobs! Using tar sands will remove all the pollutants from the land, sea, and air! Obama just wants us to get all our oil from Iran and Chavez in Venezuela. Canadians will all die of starvation if we don’t buy those tar sands and ship the finished products to China to keep all those assembly lines rolling to make X-boxes, I pods, dog food, steel, television sets, and other products to keep Americans unemployed and using food stamps to buy produce from Chile!!

The real reason Obamao won’t allow it wouldn’t be that his billionaire friend Warren Buffet would benefit greatly by shipping the oil via his railroad, would it?

^What amazes me is that going from moron to idiot isn’t downward enough for “CONservatives”!

Got offered a job in the planning stage of the Alaska pipeline. For “family reasons” didn’t take it, but kept in contact with friends that did. The Exxon Valdez was a SMALL problem compared to the rest of the pipelines impacts. The Valdez incident is STILL NOT RESOLVED, the bay has NOT RECOVERED!

I do NOT have a problem with companies making legitimate profit. I recognize that we’re 30+years behind the mark in looking for alternative energy. I know we’ve got to keep using fossil fuels. The problem is, we do NOT HAVE TO BE STUPID! (despite what republicans and conservatives say)

@howgozit, considering all the republicans want to do is to go back in time to the last bushwacking we took. i think that bar is buried under the ground.
