I’m a Dad. And I have to say no other political figure in recent history has had such a wonderful relationship with his family. When was the last time we were able to look at our President and see a terrific husband and father? It’s been a while. And I’m proud to say that the President for the next 4 years will also be a great hubby and daddy, because it will be Obama for a second term!
Economic causation is complex, because there are so many factors to take into account, and I don’t want to fall into the fallacy of post hoc, ergo hoc, but it’s suggestive at least that after the New Deal reforms the US had a long period of sustained growth with relatively minor recessions and a decline in income differentials, but all this started to unravel after the New Deal reforms were chipped away, beginning with Reagan. At the least I would say that it’s up to those opposed to the New Deal reforms to make a case against them, in the face of this situation. So maybe it’s conservatives who still believe in myth and fantasy.
Goldbrick: GHW Bush as aircraft commander bailed out and left his crew to die. He also bombed fishing boats flying the American flag, as documented in his authorized biography that seeks to lionize him, and claim Japan surrendered because he was in the Pacific theater for four whole months, not because of the minor incidents at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
“W” deserted from the National Guard, period.
Neil has profited from “No Child Left Behind” as no other, making HIS books THE books to support declining education in America. Need we mention Sliverado Savings and his huge profits from that? Oh , like brother George profiting from failed oil companies and baseball scams.
Right, no “embarrassing” incidents in the Bush family, being cowards and crooks isn’t in the same bracket as not controlling your zipper.(Not that that isn’t a failing, but a different kind of screwing, and with consent.)
Reagan “broke” unions, but brought in the greatest spending, growth in “big government”, and growth in debt in the history of the United States, period. The error he started was compounded hugely by “W” and Cheney, including what will be $3 TRILLION for a war in Iraq. Pick your enemies is a bad means of government, but the only way Republicans have maintained power over the ignorant savages who support war, and their own destruction, ignorant indeed!
