the 3rd S in SSSI stands for Supplemental. social security is supposed to be an added bit of cash for your retirement fund. not your sole source of income! duh! so, theoretically, it’s available to the tax ax since it was NOT designed to be a critical cash source to the retiree. that’s your responsibility, and if you didn’t plan for the future, it’s noone’s fault but your own. expecting someone else to take care of your butt at their expense is classic socialist pap.
What about the companies who’ve walked away from their retirees pension plans? Worse yet, what about the companies like Enron who bought up sound electric companies (like PGE) encouraged the employees to invest their retirement money in Enron stock and then promptly went belly-up?__What about those retirees… SOL and you don’t care?
