Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments. To Ladyfingers88, it is not a photograph. To do the sky I used watercolor pencils, markers and blender markers. I then scanned it at my studio in Seattle and uploaded it to Kansas City where my digital colorist at Universal Uclick, Brian Whitmer, gave it even more life by marrying the black and white line work and bringing everything together with his digital art expertise — a great collaboration. He’s one of the best in the business.
My best friend (who happened to be four-legged and have an awfully waggy tail) died a few days ago and I have to say this strip was so beautiful and perfect it made me cry. :)
This is a Grand Slam Brian. I originally saw this last year but wasn’t registered to make comments. The imagery and simple statement stayed with me and here I am in April 2012 wanting to thank you. Great job!
