This is the stupidest reach I’ve ever seen. The publishing business went downhill some time ago with mega-mergers of publishers AND booksellers. The onset of “paperless” books is killing storefronts, large, and small, which may be why “book” stores are starting to look more like coffee shops, in the same way “drug stores” are more like hardware stores.
That the publishing monopolies now determining what gets published on paper are very few, the new “opening” for authors IS in “e-publishing”- which is of course, distinctly “non-union”. The challenge of eliminating the last under 8% of jobs in the U.S that ARE union, is the goal of the GOP, and they’re getting closer every day. “Blue collar” TEA party folks supporting the GOP are like triceratops, praying for more ice.
