    One time there were 13 golden eggs. Why didn’t the king try to barter for the goose itself? I wonder if geese ever lay gold colored eggs. It seems like some chickens lay brown eggs which aren’t too far in color compared to gold.

    I didn’t know there was an egg shortage in the mid-70’s. (I was very young at the time though, I couldn’t read newspapers.)

    There are egg shortages every decade or so. There are usually short-lived. It’s a very resilient industry.

    Value is relative.

    There’s a Twilight Zone episode where some gold thieves freeze themselves to hide out for seventy years and when they wake up their haul is totally worthless.
