Reminds me of a quip one of my friends made years ago. We — 4 or 5 of us — were having breakfast at a Denny’s (where the food is not very exciting, in my opinion) here in Indy. The waitress arrived with the vittles and when she set my friend’s order in front of him, he remarked, “Mmm-MM! Sure beats food!”
Time out and hoopla for the eclipse, while an interesting and ineluctable natural event, lasts only for a brief time — and it’s much easier to grapple with than the many man-made, and yet intractable, travesties and atrocities — also ineluctable — erupting around the planet yesterday, today, and into the future.

The Repubs, unfortunately, have gazed slavishly at the eclipse without protection and burned out their brains.
