Before cell phones became so powerful, in our remote office it was forbidden to use the Internet for personal things. Our manager set up a clandestine connection and he gave it a Chinese name. Visitors from the home office never had a clue. They assumed it was a business in the building nearby.
I remember when we first got computers at our place of work (yes, I’m that old). Instead of giving them to those that actually needed them to do the work, they were given to the new batch of Graduates that had arrived. They’d bigged up the company about how progressive they were and had promised them PCs when the arrived. It really annoyed us as they just spent a lot of time emailing jokes to one another.
