Meanwhile back in the Ukraine, where a demented fat orange clown works to have his red minions create green lights for a sociopathic Russian dictator to annihilate a struggling democracy….
Our heart is with Israel, but their current leader made awful mistakes leading up to this and continues to make bad mistakes. This does not excuse the horrendous acts of Hamas, of course, but it complicates the situation
If one “stands with” a friend who is committing a crime, one might be charged. If one is friends with a couple and the relationship is abusive, one might help extract a person (I once had a gun waved in my face as I drove a neighbor and her two children to safety when I foolishly stopped to explain what I was doing to her violently angry husband).
I have “stood with” Israel since my childhood when I dutifully bought stamps to plant trees in the then-infant state. I have joined in prayers for the well-being of Israel all my life. But I do not stand with the Israeli far right. I do not stand with the settlers. I do not stand with Netanyahu and his government . And I am no less a supporter of Israel for my criticisms, just as I am no less an American for opposing our fascistic right and the corrupt caricature that is the current leader of the Republican Party.
So far it appears that Israel has decided that it’s OK to kill 25 innocent children for each and every Hamas fighter! Lisa! Tell me why you agree with that!
The trouble here is that Uncle Sam represents the US. In which case, the sign is completely inaccurate. Many people do and many people don’t. that much is evident in how many people think Biden is complicit in Israel continuing to attack. On the surface, it’s common partisanship, but it suggests the artist, like many conservatives simply do not accept that they are not the sole voice of the people. I think that is essentially what is behind the belief in a stolen election.
Netanyahu has violated agreements made since 1948 making settlements that were not to be settled, and uses the U.S. support and legislated defense of Israel for his own purposes. Biden, and Obama before him, opposed Netanyahu and his policies that caused this war.
So the right is now officially supporting Israel bombing women and children, and Russia invading neighbouring countries. Is there anything morally depraved they DON’T support?
Ever since Truman, the US presidents and parties have always had Israel’s back. Even when, during the 6 day war, the USS Liberty was brutally attacked by Israeli planes and torpedo boats, killing 10, injuring 90 with 22 missing, we could’ve severed ties with Israel. But, we just uttered with the Israeli’s an OOPS, and let it go. Even though the Liberty was in international waters, was plainly marked with a US flag and large white numbers showing it to be a US ship, the Israelis, in the heat of the moment, took the ship to be Egyptian and attacked.
So, we continue to blindly support Israel, even when they are themselves committing genocide. Biden is dragging his heels with Israeli support and gradually recognizing the need to aid the Gazans but it all seems like it’s too little, too late.
Biden is attempting to hamstring the Israelis so he won’t lose the votes of 2 groups of voters: 1) pro-Palestinian (Hamas) protestors especially in Michigan. 2) voters that believe prosecution of the war is genocide. It’s all about votes and not about the Israeli or Palestinian people.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — After narrowly backing Israel’s military action in Gaza in November, Americans now oppose the campaign by a solid margin. Fifty-five percent currently disapprove of Israel’s actions, while 36% approve.

“When I look at [Biden’s] polling numbers, it’s like walking in on your grandma naked. You can’t get the image out of your mind.” —Democrat strategist James Carville
Meanwhile, in other gnus, MAGA screamer Kari Lake, when served with a “Put Up or Shut Up” defamation lawsuit about her “stolen election” lies, has absolutely no evidence and is waving the white flag and begging the court for mercy to reduce the damages.
And the MAGA Messiah’s hand-picked “Attorney General” pick in his last-ditch election overturn effort, admitted that his “evidence” of election fraud was literally “well, what I saw on the internet…”
Oh, and the MAGA Messiah’s “economic plan” is to apply a 10- to 100% “consumer tax” on EVERY single import item coming into the U.S. Let’s make everything expensive again, shall we? Brilliant!
Because a world-wide trade war is exactly what we need…
But of course, the RWNJ MAGA shill cartoonists continue to do their job to distract, deflect, and scream about the latest shiny straw man object to keep the stupid base angry, divided, and aggrieved.
Support should go to the innocent citizens, especially children, on all sides, who suffer the most.
3 things need to be done, immediately and simultaneously. There must be a ceasefire. All remaining hostages must be released. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to flow in.
Once that has been done, all sides will have to sit down and work out a feasible solution for both Israel and Palestinians. That future would have to exclude Hamas.

Democrats stand with Israel. Or at least in close proximity. In other words, they don’t.
