Trucks designed for long distance hauling make it possible for the drivers to have good view of what’s ahead. Though inertia makes it hard to stop if you dart in front of ’em.

What DOES kill folks, far too often, are super-big family vans etc that have a long blind spot in front. Parents HAVE run over their kids because they simply could not see them right up close to their vehicle. Such designs should not just be outlawed, but the designers should serve serious time at hard labor. At least.

Seems the recent trend from sedans to trucks and SUVs was a direct result of CAFE standard changes made under the Obama administration. Before the change, new car sales were 2/3 sedans and 1/3 SUVs and trucks. After the changes, it flipped to 1/3 – 2/3 respectively.

So put our current situation where it belongs – on the Dems.

Never had anything in the bed. Never will. Now, just try to find a real work truck; real work trucks went out of existence with wing vent windows.

Years ago I had a part time job as a school bus driver. Lesson #1 was never get so close to the vehicle in front that you can’t see his tires. Great advice for everyone who drives.

Long haul (and thus huge) trucks should probably be prohibited from tight urban travel entirely, with supporting warehouses and depots to handle them outside city limits. There must be places that do that already.

That truck reminds me of a high lift diesel truck I saw last summer. He pulled up next to a gentleman in a classic Corvette with the top down at a stop sign and proceeded to “roll coal” on the poor guy. But… he was lifted so high he couldn’t see the squad car that had pulled up behind him at the stop. Needless to say, the catcalls on him as everyone drove by were debilitating. I’m sure he had to pay a premium price for the detail work to the Corvette on top of fines and maybe even jail.

Size of the vehicle is inversely proportional to his equipment size is another reason for these grossly oversized trucks etc.

5’4” soccer moms driving SUVs while texting and talking, when they can’t see over the dashboard to begin with, is the problem. But, MunBun and Skipper are safe.

    Is that for battery space?
