I hated the cranberry sauce that came in the can. I can see why he hates it. When my Dad made it from scratch, it was very good. My sister would only eat the stuff in the can, so she had one, all to herself. I learned a Native Canadian recipe for it (substitute maple syrup for sugar, substitute allspice or juniper berry for orange peel) that is sublime.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of cranberry sauce either, though I’ll eat it if it’s served. Even the homemade sauce we did a few years ago at Christmas, it was better than store bought, but it was certainly not worth the fuss and bother of making it. The best part of making it was being in the kitchen with my wife.
I go to my brother’s and bring gravy and cranberry sauce because his family doesn’t eat either!! I bring canned and bottled. I make my own cranberry sauce and gravy at home for leftovers.
I recently saw something on the Food Network where they sliced the cranberry from a can lengthwise. So the servings looked something like dill pickle slices. Just for kicks, I’m going to try doing that this Thanksgiving, Pat. Somehow, I don’t think it will change people’s opinion of it.

I like cranberry sauce. I like everything about the Thanksgiving meal unless some idiot throws mushrooms into the stuffing!
