Have you ever tried to buy eggs by the egg (individually)?

Eggs are still pretty reasonable at the big corporate stores.

Many of the stores around here have decided to sell only cage free eggs

Combine that with the bird flu, and egg prices in Northern Colorado are Rocky Mountain High

Bird flu. Millions of egg laying chickens had to be killed. There still seems to be a good supply of eggs at the supermarket, though. Maybe people just aren’t buying as many.

Last week large eggs were almost $5 for a dozen. The medium eggs were $2 less for a dozen so I bought them instead. They are only a little smaller but much less expensive.

We buy 60 egg box. Now there’s always one missing. That’s 15 cents of profit for somebody, without raising the price.

At the neighborhood Red Owl, a dozen large eggs have been $4.99. The same price as the big grocers, unless they are on sale.
