Turtles and tortoises are different animals. He doesn’t know which he is?

What do you expect from a monkey?

So a tortoise who identify himself as turtle eh.

The tortoise people in Alley Oop didn’t like the confusion either.

Thomas is a tortoise as he has legs and hands / feet. Turtles have flippers. Or do they, I dont know now, as I think fresh water turtles have webbed feet, and saltwater turtles have the flippers. And whats a Terrapin?

(Yes, shellhead, I know that there’s a difference. I actually swam with sea turtles in the Caribbean once.)

Strange. I thought turtle was the put-down term for tortoise.

Does he live primarily on dry land? Then he is a tortoise. Turtles, while amphibious, live primarily in water. (I know it’s better for the joke this way, but…) [/mansplaining.]

All this talk about whether he’s a turtle or terrapin. But the fact is that neither one can be found natively in outer space.

So he’s trans turtle.

Tortoises are terrestrial, turtles are amphibious but not amphibians as they are reptiles. Sea turtles are the antithesis of amphibians, as amphibians lay soft shelled eggs in water, undergo metamorphosis into the adult form and usually live on land, and return to the water to mate, the reptilian sea turtle lays hard shelled eggs on land, remains the same configuration throughout it’s life, just increasing in size until maturity, lives in water and returns to land to mate.

All tortoises are in fact turtles — but not all turtles are tortoises.
