You can see Mimi is highly impressed as well…“I see Kresge’s has a sale on adding machine tape this week…Montgomery Ward’s has a big sale on Turtle Wax. And a new Howard Johnson’s is opening in Central City!”

Or huh. Wonder if Gregg’s undoing will be getting beaned by an infield throw he doesn’t see coming.

P2 Gregggg whistles a purpose pitch past Gilpa’s ear in P1 to remind him not to show up to games because the team is doing fine without him around and that my (Gregggg’s) poor fielding will somehow assure the team finishes second (or lower) in the Valley

If that is the second baseman then it’s a chopper to the right side.

If it’s to the left side, that should be third base. Isn’t it customary to have a baseline there? Is Greggg marking the field also?

Tomorrow they will show Gregg failing to cover first base.

I fear he is going to take a line drive to the head. Then they’ll all be sorry they hid his disability.

Oh, I get it. It is the right side. That’s supposed to be the 1st Baseman coming in to field the rolling “chopper”. My question is: If the Right Field fence is only 20 feet behind 1st, why are they playing on the T-Ball field?

If it’s to the left side, there’s no foul line. That outfield fence is also just barely past the infield,

Wait another minute! Milford HS is off to a 10-3 start? How many games does a HS Varsity Team play? I’m “relatively” old, but it seems to me that after 10 games, you’d already be in the playoffs.

A special cameo appearance by Walt “No Neck” WIlliams at third base today. Either that or one of the teenage mutant turtles has escaped from the sewer behind the 3rd base coaching box.

Greg’s father must have found a good hiding spot for the games. Or is this going to be one of the plot lines that goes nowhere. It has to have been at least 2 weeks since Heather’s video hit the interweb

Ooh, nice! A cameo appearance by both Gil and Mimi today. Maybe we’ll see them again before the summer story starts.

What the hell is the shortstop (I assume) trying to do? Levitate the ball using Jedi tricks? Or is he telling the ball, “Stop! Don’t roll any further!”

And speaking of further, you don’t have to go much further to read today’s Mopped Up Thorp.

I was going to mention that the ridiculous assumption that the team never practices fielding bunts (so nobody knew Gregggg would struggle with them) was one thing, but even worse, what about the pitcher covering first base on grounders to the first baseman? Are you telling me they never practice that, nor has it ever happened in a game?

That could be what’s happening here despite the artist drawing a play happening near second base. If that is supposed to be the first baseman, tomorrow we might see him turn to flip it to Gregggg but Gregggg runs straight into the visitor’s dugout trying to find the bag.

And before you say, “But the first baseman is black and in P3 he’s not!”, have we ever seen characters change skin pigmentation from day to day or even panel to panel? Yes. Oh yes, dozens of times.
