Guernica was a small Spanish town bombed by the Nazis during the Spanish civil war as a favorite to Franco, destroying the town and killing thousands. Small stuff compared to what Putin is doing to the entire country of the Ukraine
Hey, where’s the horse and does Putin ride him naked? Nothing will ever change your height Vlad; you’ll always be a short squirt and that long table is no substitute.
I don’t believe the Americans complained a bit about Guernica. At least when it happened. Afterall, you don’t want to say too much and start something.
My Spanish is pretty weak, so I researched a bit to see if the title (named after the city) was at all related to the Spanish “guerra”. Apparently Guernika is Basque, which is from its own distant language tree. But the similarity of the 2 words is strikingly ironic.

Glad this painting’s safely in Madrid and not in the line of fire…or the Hermitage.

The painting is much more powerful when seen in person. It’s larger than most people realize.

Not a Picasso fan but always sought out this great painting at the Museum of Modern Art when they had it!
