If they only killed themselves, I would support their imaginary “right” to ignore science and common sense. But they don’t. They provide a Petri dish for new and more virulent forms of the virus, some of which may be able to beat the current vaccines, and they spread the virus to people who are vulnerable and can’t get a vaccine.
As one expert put it: “every death from now on could have been prevented.”
What I’ve learned from Covid-19: 1) We do a pretty good job of doing what we’re told, or asked, when it’s clear why. 2) We do a very poor job of foreseeing the consequences and costs of our actions. The social and educational costs of our withdrawals and lock-downs, especially to children, will be decades unfolding. 3) While some did their jobs regardless of peril e.g., first responders and medical staff in particular, the demurral of others was painful and blatant. (E.g. teachers refusing to return to work. Yes, I know I’ve gored someone’s ox, but IMHO no group has done more damage to public education over the past two years than teachers themselves; back to my second point, I can’t help but wonder how teachers’ Covid-19 insistent self-focus will play out in public response to future education levy issues). 4) Covid-19 should be seen as a test run. The inadequacy of the world’s health care delivery systems was glaring; from staffing to equipment, they are not designed nor able to respond to true, severe, pandemic level surges in demand. I’d hate to see what happens when/if ‘the big one’ hits. 5) Leadership all over the world, regardless of nation or politics, responded much the same. No leader ‘mishandled’ Covid-19, really; they all took actions within more or less the same parameters, and all based on what info they had at the time, but, 6) Our capacity as humans to want to blame someone knows no bounds.
I am starting to think that they should treat the anti-vaccination people like the United States treated the Japanese, who were in the United States during world war 2.
Please, let’s not forget the 600,000 deaths that were preventable if the last guy had done his job. In fact, it is clear that he would have been re-elected honorably if he had even done a little bit of what was right!

It’s definitely not just your body – what you are doing with your body is affecting the health and life of everyone around you. People like you want to make everything as simple and one-dimensional as possible. Life has never been like that and never will be.

Even if mandated, what are you going to do, go full Australia and send the army out to arrest non maskers? Sieg Heil.
