Just be sure to leave the snowmobile well back from the beach. Don’t want to be like the dude that crossed Lake St. Clair back in the early ’70’s while I was stationed at Selfridge ANGB. Drove across the lake to Windsor and after the bars closed drove back, not in the best of condition for snowmobiling, and missed noticing that the Ice Breaker had come through to keep the shipping channel free.
Later the Coast Guard found 1 and 1/2 sets of tracks. He had followed the first set so that he could find his way home and then hit clear water.
All kids are intramural. No, wait, All kids are immaterial. NO, wait. Oh, right: All kids are immutable. Wait. Ah, yes: Immortal. Alas, only in their own estimation. Parents: Pay attention to where your kids are. ParTICularly the bright ones who have interesting ideas.
I heard that your eyeballs freeze if you fall in that kind of very cold water. Told it to young idiots wanting to run on the (thin) ice on the canal and they went Yewwww! and decided not to try. I was very proud of myself that day. I didn’t get to run on the canal either. :(
I came down with heat stroke in the Indiana Dunes National (now) Park (then) Lake shore on top of a dune. The EMTs wanted to call the Coast Guard chopper just to see what is was like – mostly jokingly. I think the sandblasting from the rotor wash would have been more damaging than my heat stroke.

Guess he shouldn’t have been drinking and driving, regardless of his kind of vehicle.

Jef had a very good joke going there, then Frazz had to step on it. (Perhaps you disagree.)

Frazz didn’t warn her about the other possibilities. He just redirected her enthusiasm for flying. Not a bad segue.

Joining the CG to fly in a helo is a lot better than getting in trouble to do it.

“We’re rescuing an 8-year-old girl that got stuck on an ice floe while fishing.
Oddly, she didn’t have any fishing gear with her."
