    I like this guy, Wuerker.

    If the Obama adminstration had picked some place with a secure prison in the midwest for trials, rather than New York City, history might be a lot different.

    No, some cowards and bigots in Congress made it illegal to spend money to move the trials to the U.S. This ongoing black-eye to the United States is purely Republicans and some conservative Democrats trying to make Bush look better than he was by making it impossible to correct his egregious error.

    You can’t really blame Obama for this one, though he could have made his case better.

    There was a town in, I think, Montana, that had built a state-of-the-art prison, but for reasons I don’t recall, it either was never operated or operated only minimally. They were perfectly willing to have the Gitmo prisoners, but some members of Congress screamed their fool heads off about having (alleged) terrorists on U.S. soil.

    A change of venue from New York, site of the crime, is appropriate, for several reasons, and there are many secure locations to both hold trials, and imprison suspects, or convicted folks. Close Gitmo, and stop coddling the oil companies holding us hostage.
