Americans were subjected to years of increasing suspicion and distrust as the Viet Nam war escalated under Johnson and Nixon. Watergate also deepened that mistrust. Jimmy Carter tried to restore it, but his continued support of the Shah cut his administration down. In comes the man of choice of the Wealthy Elite. Major assaults upon the working Middle Class and Unions. Deregulation. Tax cuts for the WE. Continues under G.H.W/ Bush, who promises “Peace Dividend” after Iron Curtain gets torn down. (I’m still waiting for that Dividend!) Bill Clinton starts out OK, economy gets a little better, but his second term is marked by personal scandal, undermining by the Newt and his surrender to Alan Greenspan and Goldman Sachs by repealing the Glass-Steagal Act, letting Wall Street run amok! Then, a stolen election and eight years of Cheney/Bush, massive deregulation, very damaging wars, financial scandals (including Enron; Bush’s #1 contributor). Middle class wages stymied, benefits taken away, more tax cuts for Wealthy Elite, more money invested in political campaigns. Election of an African-American president infuriates the Wealthy Elite and their republican underlings. Eight years of deliberate, in-the-open sabotage against any policy which benefits working Americans. Boehner and Mitchell’s racial hatred of Obama is plain for all to see. SCOTUS abused and illegally packed. Now, we have…….. / .Vladimir Putin and the Chinese leaders are getting just what they want!

“Whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some Trans-Atlantic giant step the earth crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe and Asia could never take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track along the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. If destruction be our lot, we ourselves must be its author and finisher. As a nation of Free Men, we will live forever, or die by national suicide.” Abraham Lincoln 1838

The very idea that Donald John Trump could be a “War-Time President” is ludicrous in the extreme – in case you hadn’t noticed, he’s not even a decent “Normal-Times President”!

Te very first thing he did as president was to divide America into an “us versus them” kind of type of grouping – Trump has NEVER been a “uniter” – hes always practiced a "divisive type of politics – and EVERYTHING is political, to him!

In case you hadn’t noticed, even the covid-19 coronavirus wears a “democratic” label, in his eyes. Donnie John has assigned blame for the lack of an intelligent response to the massive invasion of the virus into America to everything and everyone from the democratic party for creating it as a hoax to the Centers for Disease Control to the various democratic governors – “Christ-on-a-Crutch”, he’s even blamed the World Health Organization for not declaring the virus attack a “Pandemic” quickly enough!

Of course, the REAL FAULT lies in Trump’s lap, as it always HAS. He’s our president, for Pete’s Sake! And, as everyone is aware, the Captain of the Ship of State",to this point, always has accepted responsibility for what has happened to this country.

But no longer, evidently – he has gone from “Only I can fix it!” to “It’s not MY responsibility” in three years!

He needs to understand that it DOESN’T go from “I own this!” when it’s good to “It’s not MY FAULT!” when it’s bad.

    That’s a child’s reaction; not an adult’s!

I live on the west coast. I get to watch news conferences from Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti and California Governor Newsom lead news conferences disseminating updates and strategies – informative, proactive, humanistic, forward-looking, responsible. The contrast with the ‘imaginary President’s’ sniping, denying responsibility, avoiding action, eliminating dissenters and generally obstructing efforts to protect the country are shocking…or, would be, if one could realistically expect any better of our Oval Office national tragedy.

The Lincoln speech bubble is essentially the attitude of President Buchanan as the slave states started talking seriously about seceding from the union.
