I didn’t fully appreciate what people of color go through until one day when I met a totally Bonkers Highway Patrol Officer. He began Screaming at me, Literally Foaming at the mouth while he fondled his gun and kept telling me he had every right to Shoot me. For driving across an Empty Shopping Mall parking lot. In Other Words, both NOT Illegal and, if it Had Been, outside his jurisdiction.
Finally, after about 20 minutes of abuse, he got tired, stopped playing with his gun, got back into his car and drove away.

Difficult to hear, but true. The U.S. can look different for people of color. If you’re living overseas, what would you say?
