Speaking as an entertainment writer who works for traditional newspapers?
Sadly, there are people in the media, even within mainstream outlets, who have been putting their personal agendas ahead of their duties as media. This includes outlets who have been caught making stuff up when covering stories (like when Gizmodo falsely claimed that the US military has been put on alert ahead of an “incel” uprising when in reality a lone base was warned about possible localized criminal activity) and other entertainment writers who pass or fail creative works solely on the basis of if the work agrees with their socio-political views.
These corrupt and incompetent individuals are bringing down the industry as a whole, meaning that those of us who are trying to do honest work get dragged as well by association, and those of us who are trying to clean house within our parts of it have trouble being heard.
Yeah, the overload of politics everywhere you turn creeping into the comics is sad. Leave the wonderful world of the funnies free from politics, and let faithful readers keep smiling—and reading.
