A whopper has always meant a big lie to me. In this case it fits.

If the B-K ‘vege-burger’ smells & tastes “exactly like beef” (how would YOU know ?), wouldn’t YOU find it ‘offensive’, too ?

The imitation beef does taste like beef. But, it contains a high amount of salt and processed soy protein.

I am not sure which is worse, a veggie sandwich that tastes like beef or turkey re-designed to taste like beef. I don’t find either appealing, esp. because I love turkey that tastes like turkey.

I’m not a vegetarian nor vegan but once in a while I make patties with TVP (textured vegetable protein), ground wheat gluten, and finely minced potatoes. Soy sauce, a little sea salt, ground black pepper, chopped onion, and garlic are the seasonings. The patties are not meant to imitate beef or chicken but they are very flavorful specially when grilled over charcoal. Cheap stuff and nutritious too.

Have you ever noticed…(i miss Andy Rooney…and do you know how hard it is to type vocal impressions..so you gotta add your own)..have you ever noticed… how “offended people” always hang around, after they have been offended, …only to be offended again by your not really caring about them having be offended in the first place?…..I’ve noticed that a lot lately…

Before BK had this “Impossible Burger” fake meat, other places have, and because it wasn’t Burger King people said “it tastes just like beef” and “you ought to try it”. These people I know were not vegan or vegetarian, they were just trying to eat a healthier diet (meaning not so MUCH red meat).

My wife is a vegetarian and the only meat I eat is seafood…we’ve tried most veggie burgers…and the ‘whopper’ charge is 100% true: The veggie burger at Burger King is terrible. The best substitute I’ve seen are Morning Star products, particularly their Grillers Prime line.
