My wife and I are recovering from hangovers. We went on the internet and chugged a beer every time some Congressman or Senator said, “thoughts and prayers.”
ReTumpliKKKans control the Senate. They are afraid of Trump they cower in his shadow. Expect no action there. The Senate is impotent. McConnell can’t get off his knees and get his lips off Trump’s ass long enough to take a stand.
Trump blamed people for the shooting, and he is right. No blame was placed on making killing more effective by allowing people to get guns that shoot more than a bullet per second and can hold dozens of rounds at a clip.
A prayer for all those who lost their lives or were injured in recent shootings. Another prayer that common sense will eventually prevail and the powers that could act actually will try to at least slow the slaughter. Sadly, only one of those prayers is likely to mean anything to anyone.
What’s abnormal {some would say insane} is that mass shootings are ignored by legislators except by weak lip service and hypocritical thoughts and prayers. Noreal nations act if they suffer from one such catastrophe.
Nine senators alone received over $22 million from the NRA.
The lion’s share of these direct and indirect contributions from the NRA — a total of $22,596,399 — went to just nine senators (for the breakdowns and list of NRA spending on all 48 senators, scroll down to the bottom).
Is it violent games? Nope. Worldwide availability.
Is it immigrants? Nope. There are immigrants everywhere.
Is it lack of mental health care? Maybe. Most places have easier access than we do.
Is it massive inequality between the rich and the rest? Nope: Many places are approximately as bad.
Is it free access to military-grade weapons? Maybe. We have the greatest number of guns per capita by a huge margin and fewer restrictions than any first world nation. (I carefully did not say any “other” first world nation.)
Is it whacko liberals? Nope: Liberals are pushing to make something helpful happen. So called “conservatives” on the other hand, are doing all they can to prevent any solution.
