Looks like Tia was a farm girl. My parents both came from farming families (and escaped the farms), and taught my brother and me NOT to get attached to food.
Somebody game us a pet rabbit without consulting our parents, and daddy told us to find it a new home or it would be dinner. We found someone to take it, and learned that daddy was very serious about the difference between ‘pet’ and ‘food’.
