Bernie didn’t vote with the Democrats to keep Russia sanctions the other day. I don’t know what gives on that, but Democrats need to be in lock step to get Mitch McConnell back on track in terms of paying people again and other problems. We need to stick together as much as we can.
Trump has decided to engage Nancy Pelosi in some financial gamesmanship. He has written to her to tell her that she cannot travel to Brussels because of the shutdown. Trump apparently does not know that Legislature has to “power of the purse” to tax and spend as they see fit. Not only can she go anywhere she wants and allocate funds for it, she can make sure that he doesn’t have funds next year for a toilet that flushes. He is playing a stupid and dangerous game with a woman who will cut his throat.
Melania is flying Air Force One right now to Palm Beach during a shut down. The agents on board and the Coast Guard, all there to protect her, are not being paid.
