Call it the ABCs of consumer temptation: Automobiles, Buildings and Coats. Vehicles, houses and winter jackets. They may be where most of the budget seems to be spent, but that’s not the point. The point is that those may be the three places we seek, and usually purchase, way more comfort than we need. Better to have it and not need it, we say, than need it and not have it. Of the three, I say go for the coat. A puffy one that stuffs into its own tiny pocket, so you can hide it somewhere and forget about it when it’s not called for. Try doing that with a house or a car.
