When you go running, you get tired and still have to go all the way back. With a treadmill, you step off and sit down in the recliner with a beer.

I never was a runner, but I love to walk.

Young lady has it right. She recognized that Dad’s suffering from adult pains. He can find alternate justification for most things.

I’ll never forget going down to the gym in my office building to change out of my office clothes to ride home one beautiful summer day. It was chock full of young people on treadmills and stationary bikes.

The dad is trying to set up a routine that he can pursue year-round, same time of day, same location, same prep, same duration, same cleanup afterward. That’s actually a pretty smart approach.

Walking (I don’t run, my knees complain) on a treadmill is in competition for most boring thing in the universe.

The big advantage of running on a treadmill inside than running outside is the weather. It’s Fall now and the weather will be getting colder and it will eventually turn into Winter, in which, depending on where you live, will involve snow.

if I want to admire scenery I walk. If I want to excercise I’ll use the machines.
