I guess dogs have different standards.
I always supposed that dogs rolled in stuff to disguise their smell from prey. (Like deer poop.) Not to stinkify.
You can always tell the dog with the best stench at the dog park. He (or she) will have all the other dogs swarming around them! My dog loves skunks and has been sprayed several times.
