I appreciate the sentiment (and the imagery), but Stephen Hawking would certainly have told you that any kind of spiritual afterlife is just as imaginary as the deities that so many people have fallen for and which he illustrated weren’t at all needed to explain anything whatsoever about our marvelous Universe.
Why do you assume this refers to an “afterlife”? Energy and matter can neither be created nor destroyed, just changed in form. Maybe he just went home.
It is so amazing and amusing to see all the left sourced memes, cartoons, audio and video wishing Hawking a pleasant journey. The same crowd who ridicule people of religion, cry out against public expressions of faith.
The man was an atheist to the core. You people are just so very confused.
Andy Lit, we know that. Read STRAWBERRYHELLCAT: GAIR I GALL, FFON I’R ANGHAL’s comment. I can’t think of another one I’d like to be associated with more than Stephen H. as an atheist.
Whatever lies just beyond our little dream, I wish Hawking well. He has been quite an inspiration to many millions, or, as Carl would have put it, “Billions and billions”.
Well, depicting an atheist flying of into the stars is not their depiction of the end. But I wonder, If an atheists “lights” go out and then suddenly come back on and he is kneeling before God. Will an atheist look up and say, “I don’t believe in you”?

I appreciate that Luckovich didn’t show him at the Pearly Gates.
This is more in keeping with his rendition of “The Galaxy Song.”

^ Of course not. In fact, ANY EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER of God’s existence will convince most of us atheists. Got any?

^^ And since I’ve been fair, it’s your turn. What evidence will convince YOU that all religion is imaginary?

….didn’t think so….
