If I understood the issue correctly, the Steele Dossier was one of several documents used to obtain a FISA warrant to begin wiretapping a suspect – it was not used as evidence of anyone’s guilt in court – the bar should be low for something like that anyway. If the wiretaps had yielded nothing that would have been the end of it.

The government disclosed the political bias of the source when seeking the surveillance warrant. This is the most explicit Republican effort yet to discredit the FBI’s investigation into Trump and Russia and is politically motivated. This omits key facts which make it seem like the FISA warrant was obtained using the Steele Dossier – the Steele Dossier was only a part of the evidence, and everyone knew where it came from.
