    We were always a melting pot. We have always had immigrants, most of whom were welcomed here just by being able to show up here. Many were ridiculed and insulted and called names at first, but then they blended in became a part of the whole. Why is it any different today? Job insecurities may be part of it. Much xenophobia toward other people too.

    SESSIONS’ OPPRESSIONS – {limerick}

    There once was an AG named Sessions

    who pressed for uncivil digressions

    from immigrants’ causes,

    constitutional clauses,

    and the Statue of Liberty’s expressions.

    {Off the cartoon’s topic:}

    DAVID DENNISON {aka DONALD TRUMP} – {limerick and coda}

    Disguised by another name,

    The Donald plays his game.

    Then, fending off shame,

    he denies any claim

    that he is the perp she can blame.

    … Coda:

    When She says “#Me Too",

    Trump says “#Who, Me?”.

    But we KNOW who’s Who;

    the Who is HE.

    {Off the cartoon’s topic:} = = = A suggestion for a future Toles ’toon’s topic: – - – David Ignatius describes Trump as a “Wile E Coyote” {currently vis-a-vis North Korea’s Kim as a “Roadrunner”}. … “Trump has become something of a hapless cartoon villain, detonating bombs on itself and running into walls — while our nimbler adversaries dart away in a blur of dust.” … The Ignatius piece is athttps://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/global-opinions/trump-is-wile-e-coyote/2018/03/08/bc0cac60-2313-11e8-86f6-54bfff693d2b_story.html?utm_term=.6d9150fd9a16 .

    Emma Lazarus’s 1883 sonnet, “The New Colossus”, in its entirety:

    Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

    With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

    Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

    A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

    Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

    Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

    Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

    The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

    “Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she

    With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,

    Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

    The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

    Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,

    I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

    Ice had the home address of the people they arrested.

    They took settled people, not criminals or MS 13.

    Republicans uber alles.

    Maybe some of the folks who feel stepped on by immigrants (think their jobs have been stolen from them) should emigrate to some place where they can get a better deal. Obviously they think retraining to obtain new skills “just isn’t fair”.
