American political culture contains a number of core ideals and values. Not all Americans share the same views, of course, but the vast majority subscribes to these general ideals, including liberty, equality, democracy, individualism, unity, and diversity.
Trump made it crystal clear that he required an end to chain migration and an end to the lottery. The Gang of Six KNEW that but tried to push the envelope anyway.
DACA is an illegal creation of the prior administration. Trump would have been fully legally correct in rescinding it without a grace period. He could have started deportations immediately.
Instead, he laid out a clear plan to legalize DACA and gave Congress more than enough time to come up with legislation to make it happen. If DACA “expires” with no action, it is 100% the fault of Congress.
Were Ivana and Melania US citizens when they gave birth to Donny Jr., Ivanka, Eric, and Baron? Was the Donald’s Scottish mother a US citizen when she pulled him out from his troll cave?
So you can’t deport the children born elsewhere but raised in the US because even though they’re not citizens that would be mean and cruel. And you can’t deport the parents without the porting the children because that would break up the family and that would be mean and cruel. There’s your path to citizenship folks! All you have to do is make it to the United States with an under age child! As long as there is a minor in your party, no need to comply with the law!
