Some context- this 2001 comic was inspired by Vermont Republican Senator Jim Jeffords switch to caucusing with the Democrats, giving them control of the Senate. Jeffords stated that policy differences were the reason, but some thought that the Bush administration’s constant snubbing of Jeffords (he wasn’t invited to the Teacher of the Year ceremony, even though the teacher was from Vermont) was the last straw. Jeffords’ Senate seat is now held by Bernie Sanders.

Cast of Characters: Frecka played by Jim Jeffords; Round Fruit Party is the GOP; Grub Party is the Democrats; Bodo played by George W. Bush; Round Fruit juvenile played by Pete Domenici; " Branch dragging display" was the fight over funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act; Grub Party operative played by Minority Whip Harry Reid; Grub Party Leader Bibi played by Tom Daschle.
