DOJ is making the most insane argument that protesters and journalists should go to jail
The Washington Examiner has transcripts of the Department of Justice’s closing remarks in their case against six protesters and one journalist for their participation in Inauguration Day protests. We all realize that the right wing of our country is working diligently to squash all dissent, even if that means trampling on the Bill of Rights. But Sessions’s DOJ isn’t even pretending that they are trying to prosecute vandalism and violence. They’re attacking people for protesting.
During closing arguments Thursday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Rizwan Qureshi offered no evidence that the six committed acts of violence or vandalism, or attended planning meetings for an anti-capitalism march that ended in the arrest of about 240 people in downtown Washington. If you aren’t going to provide evidence or even argue that these individuals did something actually illegal (destroying private property for example), what is it exactly that you are arguing.
Chip Bok should be ashamed of himself. The FBI is protecting the rule of law. They are incredibly talent, devoted public servants. Mr. Bok is trying to destroy the FBI’s reputation without a shred of evidence any irregularities exist in the investigation into the fact (not speculation) that the Russians interfered with our election. Is that not important, Mr. Bok? Or are you, too, flirting with treason??
Do we have something to fear in that Trump may be planning to fire Mueller and the investigation during Congress recess for holiday? He made a big political mistake when he fired James Comey, the previous FBI director, the question arises why would he do that? How much uproar will it raise if he fires Mueller? Would it be enough to make everyone decide to vote out any Republican out of office in 2018? If he fires Mueller, then we really know Mueller must have some really incriminating evidence on Trump and family. The kind of evidence that won’t disappear behind a Smokescreen.
