Why do we allow people in government to distort the truth to suit their agendas?

I thought editorial cartoons were supposed to exaggerate someone’s behavior and thoughts, not to show what they are REALLY like…

We need more than just the Democratic vote, we need people from all parties to vote in all elections. Believe it or not the intelligence level of most Americans is above that of Donald Trump’s 33% voter base. If everyone voted, even the Crooked gerrymandering could be overcome. With one caveat, keep Russian propaganda out of our elections!!!!

The partial release of the JFK files does not shed light on what happened, but leads to more conspiracy theories. The CIA made a last minute request to Trump not to release the documents, which will remain classified. So we still don’t know whether Oswald was a lone-actor all along or if a nation that continues to be one of our greatest foreign adversaries was involved in the assassination of a U.S. President. What has been released seems to confirm the expected conclusions: rumors and scuttlebutt, with uncertain sourcing. Trump once again shows himself to be part of the “Shallow State,” claiming he is the one releasing the files (they were scheduled for release) then not releasing the files per the CIA request. When states are robbed of their memory and their self-respect, which are most often embodied in a civil-servant class, that tyranny flourishes. There is no “Deep State,” There is a “Shallow State” that exists when responsible citizens replace scrutiny for cynical paranoia, which is always a pathogen to public trust. The FBI cleared all JFK assassination files for release (limited redactions to protect the identities of individuals who helped investigators).
