Too early by several years for Sally to do Emily Litella’s “Never mind.”

Right… as if the school board deals with students’ lost and found items.

There was a similar strip in which Linus found his mittens in the snow. It went like this: Linus: I found them! I found my mittens! Where’s the pie? Lucy: Pie? What pie? Linus: I found my mittens. When you find your mittens, you’re supposed to get some pie! Lucy: Oh, don’t be so stupid! Mom hasn’t baked a pie in three weeks! Linus: What good is it to find your mittens if you don’t get any pie?

Sally reflects the sentiment of many people: it’s not my fault. I would not have happened if …

Way to go Charlie Brown, helping others, thoughtful. Maybe Sally needs to goto Beauty School. Her talents may be more creative, like choosing the right whine with your meal. I meant whine.

And without school, Sally, you would never have been able to write that letter in relatively nice handwriting, which is legible. Back in the 60’s when I went to school we didn’t learn cursive until 3rd grade. My mother had taught me printing at home, simple arithmetic, how to count money, tell time, tie shoes, etc. but she refused to teach me cursive. I found papers she had written on and tried to teach myself but I made a mess of it. She said I should stop that because later I’d have to unlearn the wrong way and have to learn how to do it right. She could’ve at least taught me how to handwrite my name.

Well surprise of surprises, my great-grandson, who is now 11, has told me that they are now being taught to read and write cursive at his school.
