Before the resident alt-right apologists/clowntrolls pop up and desperately try to cloud the issue, let me remind everyone: this protest has NOTHING to do with the flag or respect for veterans. (It’s mindboggling that even Trump dares to go there given his past, and disheartening that some vets are gullible enough to fall for it.) It is a protest against police brutality—and now a protest of unity against a dog-whistling fascist who wants to abuse his position to shut up those he doesn’t like (i.e., “uppity” black people).
It should also be pointed out that before 2009 the teams stayed in the locker room during the anthem. The US military paid big bucks to have the NFL push players out for the anthem as a recruitment gimmick.
We should indeed defy “ungrateful race-baiting millionaires who hate America,” but the only real ones are in the White House, and their puppeteers.
It is nice to see the peaceful pro-American protests which parallels the spirit of the Declaration of Independence. A segment of the public has been wronged and it is time to change the status quo.

BRASS ORCHID, take a look at the report McCain and Flakes, both VERY conservative Republicans, that said taxpayers should NOT pay MILLIONS for the DoD and National Guard to put on “paid patriotism” shows at football games.
" After a weekend when Americans took to social media to debate President Trump’s admonishment of N.F.L. players who do not stand for the national anthem, a network of Twitter accounts suspected of links to Russia seized on both sides of the issue with hashtags such as #boycottnfl, #standforouranthem and #takeaknee."

I’ll bet this is most who are appalled at the kneelers.

Seriously, what percentage of the people screaming about the protests actually DO stand up at home when the Anthem is played? I bet it’s REALLY LOW!!
