So, how did he use this gun of his that you are so proud of? What makes you think all of the cajun navy is white? I sw plenty of pictures of blacks saving whites, why not mention them as well? Could it be that Phil Hands is a racist?

Those helping come in many colors, backgrounds and beliefs. They are doing what people do when an emergency arises.

Question: If to vote, native born Americans, had to prove their knowledge of and swear their allegiance to the Constitution, would we still be as divided as we are now?

Too bad he can’t have that same attitude ALL of the time.

^But maybe by participating in such activities, Jim gets to know those not like him and to recognize their common humanity. It’s a lot harder to hate the “others” once you know them personally. Jim’s behavior could change as a result of doing the right thing and getting positive feedback from it.

Since when does doing the right thing make you a hero?

Kinda like the Furniture store owner that is a HECK of a lot more “Christian” in his attitude towards his fellow man then the “Megachurch Pastor” and his Bazillion Dollar temple to the worship of money above all!

Attention conservatives: Meet Jim. He’s a self described gay, who’s proud of his Northern heritage and a avid support of Bernie, he’s pro gun-control, pro-choice and supports gay marriage. And he’s a hero. (no picture to put in).

A note on Mr. Hands ‘cartoon’ if I may. He never describes his ‘hero’ as a racist, a bigot nor a misogynist. Support for something like Trump can spring from ignorance as well as “like-mindedness”. As a matter of fact, the other “qualifications” listed – pro-gun, pro-life and opposed to gay marriage, speaks more to ignorance or stupidity, rather than an actual animus toward others. It is entirely possible for such a person to behave in the depicted ‘heroic’ manner under the proper circumstances. It is possible to disparage a person’s ‘lifestyle’ without demonizing it! It is ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA to judge a person by their ACTIONS – not their words! Many, many years of observing politicians actions versus their words have taught me that.

He’s a hero because he is shooting people? Or because progressives aren’t helping? Or because he ensured this kind of catastrophe with his pro-pollution stance on candidates?

What you believe dies with you when you die. It’s what you do that will last.

Tragedy struck rescuers that were battling currents when they were pushed into live wires. The two who were killed are Yahir Vizueth and Jorge Perez. Benjamin Vizueth and Gustavo Rodriguez-Hernandez are still missing. Jose Vizueth was found clinging to a tree, he suffered burns. While this tragedy is sad, it is great to see how many people are stepping up to help in Texas. It isn’t just the “rednecks”.

While I stand against pretty much everything “Jim” believes in I give him this day. Good work son and to all the races and religions who came forward to help Texas even after they refused to help hurricane Sandy victims.
