Wow, I’ll remember those words. I have the same dreams as him, being a rock star, but my family says it’s not going to happen. Maybe it will and maybe it won’t. I’ll try and see what happens, but I won’t be stupid and throw my life into it, I’ll do something else for a living and just see if I can get something going. If something great happens while I’m just casually walking down the road of life, I’ll grab it and start running.
Hey there Mr. Funny Guy; there are numerous artists in many fields who got enough encouragement to “throw themselves into it”, and that proved to be just what it took to bring them stardom – so don’t call it stupid. Rather, it’s called betting on yourself to come through with the goods. I realize today’s music world is much different than it was in the ’60’s, but people like John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Richard Starkey, Eric Clapton and many others dedicated their lives to their art (just to name a few), and reaped undreamt of rewards. The common denominators were talent, determination, inspiration, and a will not to be broken by ill winds, but to bend with them (gaining a new perspective). Most important, practice, practice and practice ‘til it hurts, but does not kill your spirit. If you think you’re worth it, believe in yourself, work tirelessly at your chosen artform. You may catch lightning in a bottle!
