    Good morning Vagabonds.

Had over 1 inch of rain yesterday. Going to have some drizzle in the morning today and may see some sun in the afternoon.

Temps still won’t be too high, about 70. Sure.

    Take care everyone.

Good morning, Vagabonds. Woodworker318, we had rain too yesterday. It’s 8:13 AM here in Berlin. Yesterday, my 2 cousins and I drove to the town of Ringelheim, now incorporated into Salzgitter. “Ringelheim” was my great grandmother’s maiden name and anyone named Ringelheim is related to me. I have a HUGE (not “YUGE”) genealogy of the Ringelheims.

Even though my great grandmother came from the Galician part of Poland, I’ve always suspected that this German town was a part of our history. So, we drove about 250 kms through the countryside and reached the town and then went to the archives office in Salzgitter. We saw several books on the history of the town of Ringelheim but it didn’t mention Jews. Then the archivist photocopied several pages about the history of the Jews from that region. The copies are in German, which I don’t read but, somehow, I will figure it out.

BTW I speak English, Spanish and Turkish with my new relatives as the mother was born in Chile and her husband is from Turkey.

    Morning, Village!

    .

Arye, I love reading about your adventures in genealogy, especially the German part. I’m right now researching the Ernst, Wieske, Kreutter and Braun branches of my family.

    Howdy Vagabonds

It’s Chile, oops, I mean Chilly this morning and damp which makes it chiller. Brrrr. Supposed to clear out later. ..X (fingers crossed)

My grandparents were named Honsinger showing some of the German blood from my mother’s side, my father’s side is Norman, Anglo-Saxon and Celtic, Scots mostly, the name of Low being prominent in the family tree.

Me, I’m just a nut hanging on the old family tree. :-)

    Later.

    Good morning, Vagabonds,

Very interesting account, Arye! Keep telling us your stories! I find them fascinating.

Arthur, that’s a whole lotta rain. Send some our way! We see the normal monsoonal pattern coming up from Arizona. Jan’s neck of the woods probably gets it. Maybe it will put out some of those wild fires! We have quite a few this summer. Bummer.

I’m still working on the pictures from our trip. Naming each one and sending some off to the family. I just got to the Michigan part with the visit to Jack’s cousins. They took us to this authentic Polish restaurant, and we had 15 gathered for dinner. We hadn’t seen the one cousin since the 1970’s, and met her brother (Jack last saw him when he was 1 year old), and her whole family. I feel like you, Arye. New family!

    Happy Trails.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

Yes, Rita, we are getting some of that monsoon. Up on Mt. Charleston, they had over 1 1/2 inches yesterday and had flash flood warnings for runoff all the way down here in the city. I haven’t heard yet about today. We are getting a mile 1-drop-per-second sprinkle here on the East side, and not much else. Today’s forecast is for only 91.

The asphalt guys are supposed to start Phase II today. I will take odds that they will postpone again because of the rain (such as it is).

We got another offer on the house yesterday. Full price, cash sale, closing in 2 weeks. Since the other one wouldn’t take our counter-offer, we switched to this one. We are waiting for the final acceptance, but there shouldn’t be any problem since the counter was only to let them know the solar panels are leased. We will be done and out of here by August 12!

We will be heading for Texas after stopping in CA to visit with my brother for a while. First stop is Whitney. I don’t know where that is in relation to anything else, but Thousand Trails has a whole bunch of Texas campgrounds, and we will be sampling most of them while we are there. I’ll wave to you, David.

    Everyone have a blessed day.
