Hopefully the Millennials or Gen-Z cohorts will deal with the figuring out a new AI-automation economy that is not dependent of wage earners … a policy that partisan politicians have been avoiding for decades.
PERL10, humans in China, Vietnam, etc. are putting many of the cell phone parts together by hand because they make so little it would cost more to replace them with robots. Is that what you think people in the US should be paid to avoid being replaced by robots? When companies can replace workers with robots, there will be few left in the US who can afford to buy their products. Automation started with manufacturing, and now is poised to replace retail and food service. Foreign labor also replaced US manufacturing jobs along with customer service and IT.

And the minimum wage is driving this. Having to pay someone $15 to do something that isn’t worth it drives automation development.
