It looks like just a trickle to me. Of course the crude spills will be yuge.

Pretending like pure clean water will be spilling out on the fresh green grass is part of why the right is constantly duped into making decisions that hurt them in the end. This will create a trickle of temporary jobs, but a permanent natural disaster by leaking and breaking and weakening the EPA.

The only way a large number of jobs could be created is to clean up the spills.

This can’t be right. He doesn’t do any work on his own.

If you’re attempting to say that this pipeline will be responsible for creating jobs, perhaps you should be aware that none of those jobs will be in the American steel industry. Recently Trump, at his rallies, was blowing his own horn by claiming that part of his approval of the pipeline was conditioned on forcing the builders to buy American steel; in fact, the White House has already announced that the builders of the pipeline have been exempted from that requirement.

And the jobs created will be close to zilch. After the temporary crews needed for the installation are gone, there will only be a handful of permanent jobs. Benson’s propaganda is really pitiful.

A few jobs for a few months, then nada. China will love all those products the refineries turn out though, as will other overseas buyers, ‘cause it ain’t staying here. Oh, the deadly waste from production, that we keep.

I expected the usual “temporary” jobs gibberish from the lefties. They don’t understand that EVERY construction job is “temporary” and ends when the project is done.

King Barry’s “shovel ready” temporary jobs were a godsend from their savior to the loyal left, even if they never materialized. Pipeline temporary jobs are apparently worthless to them.

OK, but the sand oil in this toon needs to be moving in a much more sludgier manner.

So no permanent jobs and the oil goes to China. Am I missing something?

The overall arching issue on Keystone, and other pipelines, is not jobs or even the occasional pipeline spill, but the increase of CO2 is the air by burning all the oil to be recovered by tar sands fracking. We need to move away from fossil fuel combustion to reduce impacts on climate. I’m open to nuclear, for example, as now there are many more safer designs for nuclear reactors out there – one being to build more smaller ones in a complex rather one huge one.

What new refineries? I haven’t heard of any being built, and if they are building new refineries, why not build them where the oil is instead of piping it across half of the country?

Not new plants, the ones that are closed will be reopened and folks hired to work there. In the town where I used to live there were 355 small petrochemical plants not mention all those in Houston and the surrounding cities.200,000 were laid off.A lot of those jobs will come back .All the closed plants will have to be refurbished. The maintenance will be on going.

This is heavy crude that will be in the pipeline. How many refineries are there that can refine it and where are they?

None of those who post here seem to have a grasp on the concept of where or how diesel, gasoline, plastic or any other petroleum products come from.

Having worked on pipeline maintenance,I can say there will be a few hundred maintenance jobs per state. The more counties it passes through the more jobs there will be.

Don’t bad mouth oil while you type on your plastic keyboard that is likely made from plastic produced on the Gulf coast.Plastic beads, pellets and flakes are shipped daily to all those places that make computers, smart phones, synthetic material for clothes, your tooth brush, the tube your tooth paste comes in,food packaging, and all of that plastic stuff you lefties have in your house.Including your eye glasses and hearing aids.

Sadly, some commentators have little knowledge about the few people needed to run a modern oil refinery. Plus, “small” is not good in today’s oil refining business.

A question: Does #45 know which way to turn the valve? Or does Steve Bannon or Kellyanne Conway have to show him which way to turn?

Eliminate the use of petroleum products in the world and you will reduce a seven billion population down to about two billion (estimate) through starvation and other privations.
